In 1998 Icarus released the Safire. A revolutionary canopy, being the first all purpose 9 cell canopy to include a lightly & truly elliptical planform shape offering superior openings and flight characteristics compared to competing mid-performance 9 cell designs at the time.
They knew that the superior characteristics of this design (such as a lightly elliptical planform shape, and constant cell proportioning) would not be ignored by other canopy manufacturers. This style of design would become the benchmark for mid-range performance canopies and other manufacturers would build similar designs.
The Safire 2 goes one step ahead of the competition again. Like the original Safire it is a truly elliptical canopy with a light shaping incorporating a constant cell aspect ratio which consistently controls the airfoil shape across the canopy, maintaining increased rigidity and reducing drag.

 EXTreme VX
The EXTreme-VX is a 27-cell Elliptical X-braced Tri-cell and is the undisputed highest performing canopy on the planet!
Jumpers have known for years that 9-cell canopies out perform 7-cells. 27 cells out perform 21 cells just the same.
The VX enjoys many of the same design features as the FX with constant aspect ratio varying cell widths, a fully formed nose, zero dynamic distortion etc. The pack volume is around 5% greater than the FX or 25% greater than a conventionally constructed 9-cell. This is easily overcome with even smaller sizing as the canopy begs to be loaded at least five to ten percent more heavily than the FX.
The extra rigidity in the canopy through both narrower cell spans and broader angles in the cross braces gives the canopy an even crisper more ridged feel, even more than the EXTreme-FX.

The Icarus Omega is a 7-Cell, Lightly Elliptical, Zero Porosity, All-Round canopy. It has been designed as a no hassles, RW, Demo Jumping, Fun Accuracy, Fun CRW canopy. It is super easy to use with delicious '7-cell' openings, easy packing and gentle landings.
ZP 7-cells have gained popularity because of their ease of use and low baggage factor. They are outperformed on landing by 9-cell (and greater) canopies, but their ease of use is definitely what many people are looking for.
The Icarus Omega is a truly elliptical canopy, but the shaping is very light. The planform has been optimized between enhancing the canopy's performance and feel, yet maintaining easy flight characteristics and consistent controlled openings. The Omega's cells vary in width to maintain a constant cell aspect ratio and to consistently control the airfoil shape across the canopy.
At lighter wing loadings (below .9 PSF) it is a good student canopy or first canopy or for someone who just wants to take it easy. At heavier wing loadings (up to 1.5 PSF) it will get zippy and fun while maintaining cruizy openings and landings. Being a 7-cell of conventional construction the pack volume is very small.

The Icarus Omni is the latest innovation in 7 cell canopy design. 7 cell canopies gained popularity because of their ease of use and gentle characteristics. The disadvantage with 7 cells is their reduced lift and more subtle flare characteristics when compared with many 9 cell designs. While this is no issue for beginners or at lighter wing loadings many more experienced skydivers also prefer the ease of use that comes with 7 cell canopies and are prepared to sacrifice lift and glide for this benefit.
The Omni addresses these issues offering a larger range of flight on an all purpose 7 cell canopy.

The Extreme FX is available in ANY size between 70 and 120 square feet.
Minimum wing loading of 1.3 is required.
